I am looking for a good cabbed rowcrop tractor and have come to an IH 5088 at a local Case IH NH dealer. Tractor has 6215 hrs., new cab kit, and appears in decent shape. I assume trans updated with those hrs. Has punched * in serial number plate if that means anything. I'm comparing against a MF 3545, and want it for spraying and tillage. Opinions insights needed. See patrictractor.com for pics. thanks!

Josh. I'm afraid all I can do is add more questions to your post.My 966 doesn't have the bigger lift arms for lifting my rollover plows.Looking at a 1066 or 86.Prices for these seem to hold steady between 8 and 12 thousand dollars. The price for 5088's on the other hand are all over the place. My questions:Why did they need "up dated"? Is this expensive? And is a 5088 that much better than the other two? Thanks for letting me chime in. A J

AJ,

You can change the pins and bushings on the plow to CAT II and it will work just fine.

Lot cheaper than another tractor.

you cant go wrong with a 5088, parts are not expenciave.it has a 436 ci engine. very good weight ratio. to pull heavy loads with. good 3pt hitch system.cabs are quiet, put a set of k&m steps on and your set.
