H shift lever squeaks

Finally got around to removing the shift lever. Two things: Even though I drained and flushed it a year ago it was dry and rusty around the shift lever base. I only got about 4 gallons of lube back out. Thought I had more than that in there. Wonder if it was too low to sling it up by the shift lever?
2) When I pounded the pin out I destroyed the two small caps that hold the pin at the base. Wonder where to get new ones??

1, The tower is on the opposite side of oil coming off of the ring gear plus the shift rails are directly below it blocking any splashes. Unfortunately, the shifter area is the 'breather' of the transmission case. All moisture is pulled in right here and it is where the worst corrosion and wear occurs. The pins were so worn on my '51 H the shifter could wobble around the outside of the rail slots.
2, Pilot Knob Restorations has the caps if you can't find anything locally.

I have had mine out twice because of it getting out of the groves. Dry both times. I think if grease gets slung up that far it will end up everywhere on the platform. As far as the caps go, when I take mine out, I use a punch and only drive one side till the cap comes off the other side and then drive the pin out back the other way so it drives the other cap off. Done it twice and have saved the caps both times although I straightend them back up on the anvil. You can smear some grease on the round part and pour a little gear oil down the hole to lube the sliders.

Grease it up with a wheel bearing #2 grease, it will love it. The caps can be fabricated from plastic, and blue gooed in place, or purchased from NAPA if you have the old ones. JimN
