HI,
I was wondering what the story behind the Red power deminstrator 86 series tractors. I have a 1979 red power 1486, and was wondering how long they made them and if there was anything special about them. Any info on this would great. Thank you.

My 1086 Red Power is a 1981.

So I"m guessing it was available for 3 years.

Only difference is the cab interior was a fancy engraved brown vinyl and the red tin work on the side of the radiator instead of a white tin work.

Oh yeah the decals had a red stripe in them also along with a branding iron decal on the red tin work on the side of the radiator.

All changes where just for a different look, no internal changes.

Gary, what you describe is a typical 1981-model 86 series tractor. These were known as the "tri-stripe", due to the red stripe on the "International" decal. These tractors have many differences from the '76-'80 models, such as the wider steps, angled shifters, and the PFC hydraulic system on the larger models. The "Red Power" 86 series tractors were part of a demonstration program. I think they were all '79's. The only real difference between them and an ordinary '79 model is that the radiator side panels are painted red and they have decals that say "Red Power".

Didn't they have the brown interior also on the Red Power?

Forgot to mention that 79 thru 81 all had the wider steps and angled shift levers not just the 81s.
