I went to replace the fanbelt on our 460 gas utility today and noticed that the water pump pulley is about 1 1/2 inches farther forward than the crank pulley or the gen pulley. The water pump pulley is flat. Has anyone ever run across something like this before? Either it has the wrong water pump or the wrong pulley? If the pulley was dished to the rear it would line up. Thanks Gary

Necessity is the mother of compromise... The original pulley probably broke, and the right part was either unavailable or too expensive.

I think you are right on the money, Not sure why someone would put the wrong pulley on it but thats what it appears to be. It;s flat. I looked up the diagram on www.caseih.com and it appears to be belled as you suggest. Now to find someone that has the correct one for sale.

Make sure you get the bolt on pulley if your water pump has a hub on it. There is also a pressed on version of that pulley too.

I am assuming that you have a bolt on pulley? If so the pulley shouldn't be flat. It is probably around 3 to 4 inches tall and bolts to the hub and comes fairly close to the water pump casting surface at the top.
