53' Super A Governor

I have gotten my Super A running and have a couple of issues. I rebuilt the carburator and reset the linkage, however, the governor now seems to not be working properly. When I throttle up or down, it does not change the idle at all at times or it takes at least several seconds to a couple of minutes. When it does idle up quickly, it throws it wide open. Is there a simple fix, or do I need to completly rebuild the governor, and how is the best way to go about doing that?

Thanks,
Donnie

After doing Gene's fix, Be sure to check for binding at any moving joints between the governor & carb.

With engine off open throttle. On the carb sideremove the pin on the clevis. Now hold carb rod so the carb throttle is all the way open. Now adjust the clevis so the pin goes back in. If that doesent do it your spring in the gov mite be broke and needs replacing.
