That belt pulley on eBay went for $760 plus $75 shipping. I laughed when I saw the seller's opening bid of $500.

I think I will have to sell mine. It is new old stock.

I suppose it is a rare item.

Last summer, I offered a pintle hitch from my I-9. It fits all series 4, 6, and 9 standards plus 04-06 standards and maybe more. I know it is rare. Just ask Howard H. I saved all the big dot-heads, sandblasted, and painted it. No one was willing to hit my reserve of $300.

keep in mind it was for 1000rpm pto. the internal gearset and spline coupler would have been unique for 1000 rpm shaft. while the pulley and gearbox aren't so rare, it's the internals. for those not familiar: 1000 rpm pto not only spins faster, but has a different spline count--21, there's also a larger 1000rpm shaft out there too with only 20 splines.

my 2 cents

Karl, what you say is true.

I don't have have a parts book that list the 1000 rpm units so I can't compare the internals with the 540 units. I do know the 540 gear boxes are offered in several ratios.

However, the ratios are fairly close to 1-to-1. A little plus and a little minus. The ratios are probably similar to the Cub and A/C right angle boxes.

The gearbox offered on eBay may be the same as the 540 box but fitted with a 540/1000 adaptor. The adaptor wouldn't require more than 3/4" additional space which could be made up with a spacer between the tractor and gearbox.

I don't know if these assumptions are correct. I am just guessing. If they were the same, it would be cheaper to inventory only one box and the conversion parts.

Ya, that's a good idea. I have one that fits a TD-14 but it is nowhere near as beefy as the tractor models.

Ebay is a great place to buy and sell, but I have a hard time believing some of those prices.

Things are not always as they seem.

Do you still have that pintle hitch?

I have the bars too. They only fit 9 series and probably 560/660 standards. All four mounting bars are easily fabricated for the other sizes. I know the dimensions for the 4 series. I think I can calculate the 6 series bars.

Took me 5-6 hours to remove the hitch. I had to use my 50-to-1 torque multiplier.
