Brad: I don't think many of these folks know what engine flywheel hp is. Most of them are coming back quoting you drawbar and PTO horsepower. I don't think combine figures will be accurate. I knew this figure back when I bought a new 1066 in 1975. This is not right sccurate but I think you'll find 1066 engine flywheel is 12% to 15% higher than PTO horsepower.

I don't know as this matters a whole hell of a lot, most 1066 I've come across and I'm talking back when they were new, and as they came from the factory. My 1066 cranked 158 hp from the factory, and I've heard of at least two dozen others that came in between 150 and 160 on PTO.

I owned 16 new or close to new Farmalls in my lifetime. Of the 16 only one did not exceed both manufacturers ratings or the Nebraska tests, and most of them went 8% to 15% over. The one that didn't measure up was a Farmall 504 gasser.

The Federal government used those 504's for mowing off their firing ranges. They were pulling big batwing rotary mowers and they had a
box type cab made from armor plate to protect the driver in case they hit a dud. Heard they had a lot of problems with the engines and since they didn't have sleeves they sold them at their property disposal auction. Then they bought big Ford diesels and back then they used the low bid contract. Hal

According to one book I have a 1971 1066 was rated at 125.68 belt power and 108.73 drawbar horsepower. But I think in 1973 or so they upped that horsepower quite a bit.
