Thanks for the advice each of you had given me earlier. I had not tightened the nut up on the steering arm tight enough to fully seat the taper. I used a 3/4" drive socket with pull handle and re-tightened the nut and that fixed the problem.
Thanks again!

Lewis: Ah-ha, much simpler than you first expected. Glad to hear you have it resolved. Now, you can report back how well it manuvers in tight corners as well as driving on uneven road without holding the slack one way or the other, to keep it from a shimmy.

The situation with these that throws most folks off, is realizing how little bit of looseness it takes between steering shaft worm-half gear ratio and tyrods, to give a half or even a full turn of free travel at the steering wheel. Hard to imagine until you give it some thought. I've seen 1-1/2 turns free travel on steering wheel, and the whole problem was right in the two woodruff keys in the vertical shaft.(steering control arm and half gear)

Hugh,
You are absolutely right. It didn't take much slack in either of these areas to make quite a bit of difference in steering wheel turn.

My problem was I could not hold it straight while cultivating, even having the front wheels in the furrow left by the rear plows didn't help a lot. Thanks again for the help.
