How do I tell if my cultivator for the Farmall C is a model C-244 or a C-254? I have looked at pictures but can't tell the difference. I would like to know what I have before I buy a manual.
Help appreciated.

K-Mo, I am NOT 100% sure, but I have a set of each, and here are the differenes in those. The 244 is a 48 model. The front sections are the same frames as the 254, but have shorter center tool bars that have 45* bends in them. 254 tool bars come straught back from frame and make a 90* turn. Also longer than the others. The back end of the 244 uses 2 lift rods instead of only one of the 254. 244 was designed for tractors with 4 lift arms

Thanks for the info. It helped greatly to locate the differences but the differences becomed blurred by available options. I found in the parts book you are correct about the 244 having the 45* (actually 54*) center right toolbar applicable in 1948 but is replaced by a 90* applicable to 1948-49. I assume later 1948 models. It's like what's different on one is optional on the other.
I don't have the rear sections so I can't go by that.
From your information guiding me, and the parts book, I believe I have the C-254 cultivator. My center tool bars are 90*.
Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
