I have several farmall f-20's. Some of them have different shift patterns. Does anyone have any information on this?

Moseed's got it right. I've had one F-20 with standard 4-speed and one with the factory road gear. The pattern is cast right in the shift tower cover. Looks like it might have been an engineering decision to make the different gear sizes work out. Anybody know?

F-20's were available with higher speed transmissions that had different shift patterns.

Factory road gear in a F-20 has a different shifting pattern. Back is 1-3-2 and forward is R--4. The standard non-road gear pattern is back is 1-4-2 and forward is R--3. This pattern is stamped in the metal around the shifting lever.

(this is not my material, it was copied from this board not long ago)
