I put a wide front end on a C last year and find the steering is more difficult than I would like. My neighbor put a power steering unit on his years ago but says he would such is not currently available. Any info?

If you have 6-ply front tires, air them up to between 30 and 35 lbs. If you have 4 ply front tires, air them between 25 and 30 lbs. mike

If you go to the larger wheel it will help a bunch, will also need the bracket from a SC or 200 that the steering shaft rides in attached at the side of hydraulic controls. It will change the pitch of the shaft and give more knee clearence for the operator. One from the 230 will fit and work, but doesn't look original to the C or SC/200.

Just a thought,The steering wheel on a C is pretty small. One for a H or M is a couple of inches bigger and that does make a world of difference. The old 20 inch one off of a W9 would really make it steer easy, might look funny and may not clear the seat. One from a H or M will fit and still look ok.You can try it pretty cheap anyway. John.

there is a place called surplus supply that has a number of different char-lynn torqe generators, many for fork lift applications, something like that may work also, they mount at the base of the steering wheel on a forklift. just a thought tho, have you checked the front end on your c at the steering knuckles to see if they are binding? if i remember, there are upper and lower bushings in the axles that the knuckles ride in. could be they are worn and causing hard steering.

It can be done, but it won't look real pretty as there isn't any place to hide the torque motor...

Perhaps a Char-Lynn torque motor could be put where the shaft runs next to the engine...

Then you will need to plumb a priority flow valve to the torque motor from the factory hydraulics...

Yep, it can be done, but I think our C steers easy enough to not make it worth the cash outlay.
