Super MTA Farmall All-Fuel?

Did International make a Super MTA all-fuel tractor? I bought a SMTA recently. I assumed it was just a gas burner, but it has a little fuel tank in addition to the big one. The little tank looks original as it is similar to the one on my W-9 and the hole in the hood for the fill neck and cap is perfect. The hole is not cut out by hand or anything like that.

Would the head number tell me? Could it have been a diesel that was converted over to gas? The line running out of the little tank goes into the main fuel line right under the big tank. Would it tell on the serial plate? I thought that they would have gotten away from this configuration by 1954. This is my first Farmall (only have the W-9) so I don't know much. Any help would be fantastic. Thank you.

Pretty much all of the IH tractors were available to run kerosene or distillate from before the F series up through the 450.

Hi,

Could you send pictures of this tractor? I don't know them by there model numbers, but the M diesels started on gas and ran on diesel. They had this small tank for gas. Of course, so didn't gas engines that started on gas and ran on kerosene. The farmalls that I have ever seen that ran kerosene was the H.

It is definitaly possible that you have a kero or distillate tractor.

What is the serial number (including suffix) on the plate and the engine (right above distributor)?

Does it still have shutters and a heated manifold that looks like this?

The tractor is at my farm. I am going out of town and will get back Tuesday. I will go then and look at these things. I do think the manifold is that type. I will post back on here what it has.

You all have fantastic knowledge of these machines!

Dual Fuel were available through 450 (to the best of my knowledge) they were not popular, but there are a few of them. The SMTA dual fuel had low numbers of as well. As tractor distillate, and Kerosene became more expensive due to demand for gasoline, and new catalytic processes in the refining industry, less fuel was available for more money, and thus it was phased out.
