560 diesel fuel pump

my fuel pump is leaking out both ends of the govener arm pivit shaft(throtle linkage). How tough a job is it to replace the O rings on the shaft? TIA Kerm

Its not that hard.Take the return fuel line off the top cover and the 3 scews that hold it on plus the throtle linkage.Then take the C clip off the shaft going through the top of the pump.Now the shaft can be pulled out each side of the pump in two seperate pieces .Then replace the two O rings and put back together.OH! turn the fuel off too.

If you are talking the pivot arm shaft there is a small o-ring on each side of the case under the cap nuts. They can be replaced without removing the pump. If you are talking about the throttle shaft it is more complicated. Those o-rings are on the shaft so some disassembly is required.

The fuel pump repair man is the best to fix this. Before you remove the pump for repairs be sure to wire the throttle back in the full throttle position. I think it cost me about $40.00 to have the guy replace the inside seal. Good luck, Tom/Idaho
