I found a 1937 F-20 with factory elec. starter, foot brakes, Hylster overdrive the 8 speeds forward one, factory rear fenders, fair 36" tires, PTO platform, brush guard on radiator, It runs, but needs restored. The owner was farming with it up till about 20 years ago. I'm trying to buy it, he wants me to make him an offer. How much do you think these options would up it over a plain jane F-20?????

Another thought: It is my understanding that IHC offered foot brakes on very late-model F-20s. Were they standard then, or an option?
The IHC pedals I have seen have been cast. There were some aftermarket suppliers who offered foot brake add-ons, but they look different from the IHC type. Some, at least, look like they were welded up.
IHC put a variable governor on the F-20 at some point--about 1937, I think. The serial number for the change is available in the parts book, but I don't have access to that right now. Aftermarket suppliers jumped in with variable governor kits. I have seen a couple in old catalogs from the 40s that show variable governor kits (like the parts book, "I know they're somewhere, but I can't lay my hands on them right now"; I need a secretary, I guess). Again, the ones I have seen have different hookups and levers than the IHC version, which is extremely neat-looking compared to the aftermarket types, which often have a kind of Rube Goldberg look to their control rods and levers.

I have seen a few F-20s with starters, at shows, but I don't think IHC offered this. Can't prove it.
Does anybody know for sure (late-model parts books that list a starter)???? Always been curious about this.

Sir, Does the F-20 run? Is the motor free? Are there any cracks? Round spoke or cast wheel? You could buy most of the goodies and put on a tractor, Look at the cost of that and time to install. This tractor if in good shape is worth alot more than 1500.00 even if you have to do a motor job. If it were near me I would pay between 2500-3000 oldiron29

Love to see pictures of the electric start. I didn't know you could get electric start on a F-20. I have seen F-14s with electric start.

the electric start is rare, I would say you would be insulting him if you offered less than $1500.00.

Pretty rare find would part out for several hundred. The starter set-up alone couple hundred then the fenders and the list goes on.
