I suppose it is quite obvious by now that old iron disease has advanced to stage 3 or 4 in me but doubt if it will be fatal (unless wife totally loses her composure and does something radical like throw something). Guy called today locally that wants to sell 450 Diesel that appears to be pretty good.Is parked in among other machines for winter so could not test drive it yet. Here is what I know. Narrow front, power steering, fast hitch, runs good on gas and diesel, pretty straight metal and new tires on the rear which are 15.5-38. Front tires are fair and is missing most of the SSemblems which I have or can get cheap. This would complete the 50 series of diesels here, thus my interest. Can you help me on a price range and what would you offer? Thanks Migraine P.S. TA is supposed to be good as well as clutch but I have not driven it yet.

I recently paid $2000 for a 450D, excellent runner, good TA, PS, good metal, no fast hitch, good but not new tires. I would not even consider double my money back for it. What a pleasure to drive!!! Compare that price to a Super MDTA and see how it sizes up!!!

If you can get it for 1500,jump on it.Bought my 350D several years ago for 1700 knowing I was going to have to put on another injection pump($600)Probably have around three in it now and still think it's a bargain.

I would guess about 2-3k if everything works and it runs good. There's one at the IH dealer in Coulee City with a loader and they want 4K for it.

Hi Migraine, I think Gary has a point, but for price start with tires and hitch are worth 1500. Put something for the tractor on top of that it probably won't be a cheap one, but it sounds like it shoulld not be. Good luck, Chuck

migraine, the price of 450D is all over the place. Some bring in the 4 to 5000 dollar range. Most can be had some cheaper than that though. I gave 800 for mine a little over a year ago. It wasn't running, but they didn't know how to start it. I had it running in less than an hour. It has a few problems, but I still think it was cheap. I would sure want to drive or at least hear it run if price is over 1000. Cost a bunch to work over those engines. Start with a low bid, and see where it goes.

Dog gone it migraine I never dreamt there would be that many old tractors up in that corner of the US.

You better start sending them down this way so we can give them a work out.

I will let you have visitation rights if you loan them to Iowa.

Oh to answer your question. I have no idea what to offer. But buy low and sell high. Isn't that the way it's suppose to work.

Gary

Yea Gary and others, I really don't know why all these Red ones are coming out of the woods at me but I guess people heard there was a sucker in town that will look at anything I.H., I really do have a soft spot for those era tractors and sort of keep me connected to my roots in Iowa. Sure would like to rent out some of these old hunks to reputable people so they could get used and back into shape, but don't know if I would ever get them back in the same shape as when they left. I just talked to the gent again and I think 1500 will buy it after I do the testing run and drive. Probably worth that don't ya think? Forgot that it has a nice set of fenders on it as well. See what tomorrow brings. Migraine

It would easily fetch that 1500 here with all those options on it. I considered buying a 450D with a bad rear end and weak engine for $1000.

migraine, if it starts and runs, has decent tires and looks fair it is worth 1500 easy in my opinion. They ain't making anymore of them. I too love the old tractors of that era. Sure wish I could afford a wagon load of new parts though.
