hello everybody I just aquaried a farmall B? and am trying to get a good handle on the model. I was told it was a B. It has hydrolics and a wide adjustable front end. It was parked next to a super A and is somewhat larger.
The serial number on the set bracket is 272818 and theres a casting number behind the oil filter 251069R1 i think as it is hard to read there. it also has the fireing order above the distrubiter.
there is also a cast number on the transmision just under the battery box 351687R1
it also has a pto and a belt roller on the back with a lever to engage the pto.
Any help with IDing the model of this thing would be helpfull.

It looks like a Super A. Since it has an aftermarket seat, the serial plate is probably missing.

Going by the picture posted, and if it has hydraulics as you said it would appear to be a Super A.

seeing that we cant see the whole tractor, did the A"s have the IH or Farmall grill ornament. My super A"s have the IH on the grill like the one in the picture.Just wondered what the A"s had.

It's not a B with the wide front, etc as Andrew mentioned. Your serial number should have a prefix such as "FAB" for a B or "FAA" for an A. The seat bracket might not be original so that tag is worthwhile only if the stamped serial number matches on the engine (above #1 plug, may be hard to read if dirty). A picture would help if you could post one. That's about all I can think to help. Interested to know what you find out.

It does have a model of FAA on the tag.

Thanks

The FAA tells you the story on it. The first 2 letters stand for Farmall and the 3rd letter is the model of the tractor which would be an A. The B only came out with a narrow/trike type front end but the A had the wide front

Grizz: Andrew covered most of definitely not a B ad he gave you all the right reasons. If it is offset, it's got to be a Super A, no other offset ever reached that high serial number. In fact, the only other post 1939 Farmalls ever to surpass the 250000 mark were the H and M. Basically take Andrew's advice, you only have 3 tractors to look at SA, H and M.

Its not a B, no B has hydrolics or a wide front and they are much wider than the A, SA etc. Sounds to me it is a Super A with maybe larger tires to make it look bigger. Look on the side of the page for "tractor photos" and see what matches up there.

it has 14.9-24 tractor tires on it and they are reversed so it looks wide and tall, also the center lines of the tractor tilts down to the front, not sure if this is normal or point to aftermarket tires.
Thanks for your fast repley
