Take the cover off and have a look. Check to see if there is slop in the weight pins, if so, 2 options,, new, or put in a bigger set of pins by drilling out the old holes in the weights. While the weights are out, you can shave some material off the weights to make them lighter. I dont go past the casting flash on the side of the weight. A stiffer governor spring will change the way it operates for sure. Will open and respond to the hand throttle faster, will hold the carb open longer, during hard working conditions. A good tuned governor can be worth an extra 5-8 HP at rated rpm over stock. After the governor, you will have to go into the carb and increase the jet size, so it will be able to keep up!! Another part to look at is the mechanical advance in the distributor. 90 percent of em I see are broke or stuck. If the rotor feels like it moves and does not snap back fully, this is the sure sign that attention is required. You can go with stock springs, or there are other options for a little added performance. Hope this helps, ChadS ChadS3@hotmail.com www.thetractorshop.com

"an extra 5-8 HP at rated rpm over stock." WOW! ChadBS and his magic springs. A few extra one in your tool box is good for 10 more HP
