I decided to take a drive on my F-20. It was kinda cold and the F-20 didn"t want to start. Also made some tramission noise. I need to check the oil. Anyone know how to do that? I filmed it. This was my first tractor film. Quality wan"t as good as I wanted. Anyway here you go.

Thanks Michael,

For the ride with you on your F-20. Neat. Looks like you folks have had a lot of rain.

All you guys that love straight pipes will pay for it in years to come when your hearing goes south.

When I had an audiogram done several years ago, the hearing specialist made a convincing speech that my hearing will never be better than it is right now, still fairly normal, so I had better do all I can to protect it. It was a wake-up call.

I no longer drive ANY tractor, garden or field, use any power tools, weedeaters, or hammer on anything, or do any target shooting without wearing ear plugs.

For deer hunting, I have a couple of pairs of special plugs with diaphragms in them. The plugs allow normal hearing and conversation, but the diaphragms react to sharp noises, like a gunshot, and slap shut within milliseconds to block the noise.

Anyone who isn't concerned about protecting their hearing now, WILL be some time in the future.

Please do not take this as criticism. Things "never happen to us". They do and did. I wear hearing aids now and they do allow me to hear but not nearly as well as it would be without them. Unfortunately I cannot undo damage already done. A healthy and prosperous 2008 to all of you.

I understand and wear hearing protection. We are checked at work once a year. I strongly believe in hearing protection.

Michael, there is a check plug on the front side of the transmission.

Hey Michael That was pretty good. I felt like I was riding along and the old tractor sounded real good.

Cool! Does it tick you neighbors off with that straight pipe? My 14 has no muffler and a few of my neighbors get mad when Im out on it.

So far no complaints from the neighbors. There is a working gravel pit down the road I was on so their trucks and equipment makes more noise than the F-20. This spring I'll check the tranny oil and change it. I figured out where the drain and fill is. You can hear it whine in the video. Oil was stiff, like Andy said, due to it being cold. Boy you should have tried the crank. It was stiff due to stiff 30 weight.
I want a F-14. Do they have a higher pitch than the F-20? Are they as easy to start?
I like straight pipe. I may get the original exaust casting later but the pipe thats on it keeps the exaust out of my face. As you see she doesn't smoke. Its a great running tractor. I love the sound it makes.

I think there's something wrong with your video website. Hal

They don't always start well in the cold. Sometimes they make noise in the transmission because the gear lube is thicker in the cold. Be sure you are using 80-90 gear lube. I could not veiw your video because my PC is too slow.

Andy.
