Finally got the 650 Diesel on the dyno yesterday. But it only will turn about 1600-1700 rpms and seems to pop on one injector. I pulled it down several times to try to get it to open up but no avail. It does smoke pretty good even at part throttle and just never seems to really come open. This one sat for over 10 years not running so I cleaned all the fuel lines and tank and put new filters and oil in the pump. Also, when running at higher rpms the fuel pressure guage is at low side when I idle it back the guage goes to operating range. Do you think I have injector or some pump problems? No diesel fuel seems to be getting in the oil or Maybe is the compression lever not completely shutting off the gas Mode? Any help or ideas are appreciated. Thanks Migraine

I'll assume that the fuel filters were changed and the screen in the water trap cleaned so if that was done then see if the fuel is flowing suficiently so then there is a valve and screen around the scavenging pump that if pluged will either starve fuel or create a over pressure issue this is on a MD and the system is very simular.

Hi Migraine, High idle is 1650 so you don't have an rpm problem. Did you get the fuel system bled good, air could cause that, if not air the primary pump may be weak. Open the bleeder valve on each injector one at a time to find which cylinder is missing. I doubt it would be the starting valves but if you have a book there is a check an adjust sequence to follow on the starting system which would be a good idea. Good luck, Chuck

Can you remove the air cleaner line to the manifold. The air cleaner may be plugged or the lines to or from it.

Black smoke says it should be getting plenty of fuel. But low fuel pressure doesn't seem correct.

Is the 650 that looks like a W9? If so, the rpm may be about right for high idle. Check the plate, if it is there, above where the belt pulley is or would be. It will state max rpm. At least my gas wr9 does.

If it were me I'd pull the injectors and clean them. You could do a compression check to see if all the decompression valves are seating. If you have acess to a thermometer, a cold cylinder will tell you that the injector is the problem.

Thanks Guys. Yes I changed the filters, water trap, and screen intakes. But I did not recheck them since I got it running nor have I checked the air intake line. I have a complete set of injectors from a WD-9 and wondering if they are the same if I pull the 650 ones out and find they are bad?
