Hey guys
Well my work on the B continues and now its the generator thats given me troubles. I took it apart cleaned it up got it so it would produce some power. It doesn't produce much power but it does produce a little. I cleaned all the connectors and that didn't help. Could it have something to do with the field connector on the generator? Do i need to reset the brushes? If so how do i do that? I don't even think its producing enough power to get past the cut-out relay.Any help or any thing i missed would be appreciated.
Thanks
jake

Could it simply be that your battery is fully charged?

I LOVE alternators! Not sure sandpaper in points is good. Seems like sometimes a little grit gets caught in between. File don't do much better. If I clean points and then OK, I shut er down and change to new ones. Pull a 3X5 card through new ones in case oil is on them.

While you're swampin' through the archives, you might find it just needs re-polarizing, and there's plenty of stuff in there on that. JohnT has a post he puts up pretty regular that's a good step-by-step and real helpful on locatin' problems like you're havin'.

G'luck, and keep us posted.
