How much work is it to work on an H governor? Right now when I pull the throttle back it takes a bit to engage and then when it does it goes till it revs up past normal high running RPM. I am assuming there are weights or something in there? Anyone have any diagrams to do this? Is this something I should tackle or is the adjustment finicky and have an old IH Veteran work on it?
Thanks Much!

The governor is pretty straight forward. There are bob weights, bearings, levers, etc. Like neblinc says, take the cover off and have a look. Look for things that are worn, broken, loose, or sticking. Usually if the spring breaks, it won't go above idle.

These tractor were built with the idea of the owner working on them. There are still operators manuals, service manuals, and parts books available for them. If you are going to use your tractor, they might be nice to have on hand.

Pop the cover and take a look inside, it may be just the spring has come off or has broken.
