Anyone have nay idea what this might be? It appears to be a chisel plow tpe implement. It is a trip plow, have never seen one before, I have found nothing on this is any of the Farmall books. It does have P&O and IHC stamped on it in places. yeah, I finally mastered the picture posting thing, so look out.LOL

I saw one at David Smallman's place a few weeks ago. He sells a lot of stuff so he may sell you a shank for it. His number is 865-475-9361. I have one just like it that came off a dairy farm in North carolina. They pulled it with an F-30 that I got from the same farm. I want to get it freed up and working but don't want to paint it. They look nice as they are. I have some tractors that are original and rusty that draw a lot of attention at the shows. Give David a call.

I found one in the book "150 years of International Harvester" by C.H. Wendel.
It is on page 178 and 179 and is shown in an orchard, they call it an field cultivator. I don't see a model number mentioned.
Hope this helps a little, Bob

JT, I still haven't found that particular model, but IH does refer to it as a sub surface cultivator. I have a B&W pic of 2 different mounted versions, but not the trailing model. One has these shanks on it, and the other has coiled spring shanks on it. I am sure I have a pic of that one somewhere too, but haven't found it yet. I lost a bunch of my old books when my house burned, so it may be lost.

George,
I really appreciate all your efforts for me. I have looked a lot trying to identify it. I have got a lot of good info from all, and that is what is great about this site. If you find anything else, it would be great. My eail is open if you ahve any pictures that could be sent. Things like this drive me crazy until I know what it is. Again, thanks to all who responded

I know what you mean. I have an HM 4 row cultivator that I have had for 20 years and can't find a pic of another just like it. I know I could get the manual if I knew the model number. When I bought it it had all original red and blue paint still on it. Also had a decal that said HM- Cultivator, but no model number. I have a buddy who is an IH dealer with all the old books and michro fiche that may be able to help us both out. The next time I am over there I will scour the info and see what happens.

We had one at one time. Was RUST colored by the time I was around it. Ours was six feet wide and had 11 shanks. H**l of a load for an M in third gear. We called an "orchard cultivator" Dunno why, not a lot of orchards around here. Shanks were so close side to side and front to back three pieces of straw would clog it up.

It sure does resemble a chisel plow. The shanks are not long enough for it to be a subsoiler. It does appear though that it is missing one shank. If you could find that one, it would be fun to drop 'er in the ground and see what happens.

Yea, it is missing one shank, that is one of the main reasons I weas trying to maybe identify it a little closer, to be able to see if I could find a shank. If not I am going to see about having one made. But, oh yea, I want to hook it behind my H and see what happens, may have to use my M but, we are going to find out this spring.
Thanks to all who responded

My folks always called that a Field Cultivator. The one they had was a spring tooth model but was intended to pull up sod normally on a summer follow before plowing.

Hal,
P&O was Parlin and Ordendorf, I thingk that is the correct spelling, anyway, they had a manufacturing plant in Canton, IL IHC bought them out, most all the plows IHC sold were P&O plows.

Hal,
The shovels are only about 2" wide. I think it is neat, just curious is all. Want to get it cleaned and blasted and painted, if I could find a colored picture.

You may be able to get some info on paint from this web site. I think they used dark blue on a lot of their implements. Hal

Paint it red with cream wheels, paint the lift parts blue, it will be pretty close.
