Shift lever on my H squeaks when shifting. I drained and flushed the tranny about 6 mos. Thought that would cure it. How do I remove the shift lever? Do I just pound the large round pin at the bottom out with a punch? Thanks, Jim

Glennster is very correct. If the little pin does not want to move, press downward on the lever a little, they can get worn and the grooves prevent movement. I would use a moly grease, or synthetic grease on the components you find in the hole, and the ball/socket. JimN

the big pin you see at the bottom is really 2 metal caps. drive it in a little, the otherside will pop out. then you will see a smaller pin inside there. drive that one back the other way, it will knock the other cap out and then drive the pin out the rest of the way. the shifter will then lift up and out.

Thanks for the info. I thought it looked like a weird pin. So those are caps. Great, I'll give it a go. Jim F
