My old plow truck has about had it. I just stick welded the frame (again) to get me through this winter. I"m going to pull the snowplow off next spring & junk the truck. I"d like to install the plow on my 52" Super C. The plow is an 8" Fisher (old style), I can weld a frame up & use my old push-plates, but, I"m wondering how to run the hydraulic pump? Can I use the hydraulics already on the tractor? Anyone ever done this before that can give me some advise? Anyone got pics of this kind of set-up? Thanks from the coast of Maine!

Here are a couple of pics I hope of my SC with a blade on it. Blade is about 7'6". I just lift from the arms. Blade willl lift about 14 inches which works ok for me. If snow is deep just drive through with blade halfway down then take a second run. Usually I can drop the blade and just push doesn't matter much how deep the snow is. No down pressure on the blade with the setup I have but blade is heavy enough it works great. Pics were taken in the summer. I have 2 wheel weights on each side at the back now. Traction doesn't seem to be a problem.

Can't see how that plow would hold up when plowing back to back storms where the old snow gets kinda stiff from partial melting and settling.

Don't you think the arms need a little cross bracing to keep them from hitting the front wheels?

I had a homemade 8 ft blade on my C for a few years. I could not get the rockshafts to lift it high enough for me to be happy with it. I mounted a pulley system to the front bolster and only could get about a foot of lift at best.

I liked plowing snow with that little tractor.

I had a lite 6' blade on my Super C, works really good good size tractor to plow with, but i had mine on the fron of the loader. As others said the old fishers are really heavy, I have one on a H and it really makes it a bear to steer! Also 8' is really a pretty big plow if your plowing a rough area, or uneven terrain you may have problem with that setup. You will need at least 2 sets of weights and i had a weight box set up on my fast hitch too. I was able to plow with out chains though. Good luck and i would look for a smaller and lighter blade at a junk yard. Theres one around here thats has a number of them so i woiuld think in Maine you should have pretty good luck.

There is two easy ways of dealing with it. The firse id to use cables or chains from the rocker arms to a pair of pulleys on either side of the front bolster down to the plow frame. The second is to add a remote block for the C's hydraulic sys. This attaches to the location where the steel lines enter the Reservoir/system. It plumbs in the ability to use an additional (one or more) remote set of open centered valves. JimN

Hugh is correct if it is more than 300# it will be tough to lift. A set of helper springs on the system would assist the lift if used from the rockers.
Lifting it with the rockers could be done as an experiment without building anything, just put the plow under the tractor and see if it will lift it from the full forward direction. (just thinking out loud) JimN

Josh: If your planning on lifting that Fisher plow with the touch control rockshafts, you'll probably be disapointed. That Fisher is probably twice as heavy as my plow and my plow is too heavy for the rockshafts.

You should be able to plumb that Fisher control valve into the SC hydraulics. The Fisher system pumps about 3 gpm and your SC will be about 4.5 gpm. I know Wardner was on here yesterday, and he told me he mounted the Fisher pump to crankshaft of 660 because of the gpm 660 would be either 12 gpm or 17 gpm. Give geneb a shout, he's had a bit of experience hooking remote valves to touch control systems.

There is block, about 5/8" thick, mounts between manifold from hydraulic pump and touch control unit. You can get those from Saginaw County Tractor. It has a port for Teeing in a remote valve, I expect you could hook the input line of the Fisher control valve to that block, then run discharge back to reservoir. Consult some of the others before you take this as gospel.

That same block is alot cheaper on eBay. The same fabricator of both always has several listed. Seems like $35 is the going price.

I think instructions for installation and use are included.

I also think it is going to be very difficult to attach the Fisher push plates to a frameless C. For one thing, the truck frame is probably somewhere around 30"-34" wide. The Fisher lower crossmember and the parts in front of the grill could be used in conjunction with a new frame going back to the axles.
