I have a c farmall rear end housing that I would like to put disc brakes.I use this tractor for pulling & read somewhere the c is 70 lbs. lighter than the super c.some of that weight may be in the torque tube.I was hoping some of you farmall whizards would know if it can be done without alot of trouble. Thanks for any info + or - Wildman from MO

The SC disks are no match for The band brakes on a regular C. JimN

gene: I didn't realize IH changed enough to make the SC 70# heavier than the C. The SC has a water pump, larger radiator, more sheet metal, larger pistons, and I'll bet the disc brakes are heavier than band brakes. One other thing SC brake pedals are curved, could the transmission-rear end top cover be larger, no sure. Therein lies your weight difference. Is it 70#? Don't know.

It's definitely not in the engine, rear end or torque tube castings

Top covers are the same. 20" by 27 1/2".

I don't know, I think the rear housing is drilled differently. There is no advantage to disk brakes, anyway. They don't work any better, and require more maintenance.
