Hello, I was just curious if anyone uses a 574 to move round bales and how large a one it will lift with the 3pt hitch. I have a 656 narrow that struggles to pick up a 1500 pound bale once the oil is warm. Was wondering if the 574 had stronger hydraulics.
Thanks YC

Yup, fixing the 656 will be a lot cheaper than buying another tractor.

Filter and pump should run a few hundred $$$ but well worth it.

I already have the 574 such as it is. I will probably chage out the pump on the 656, perhaps this winter. Thanks

I agree with Hugh, my 656 will lift the front wheels off the ground when I lift something heavy enough, and I have weights on the front of mine.

Something is wrong with your 656. It will snatch any bale up when in good shape. Sounds like it needs a pump. The 574 will also lift any bale, but will need weights on the front end. The 74/84 series tractors have a very good lift. I think the 574 and 584 are rated about 4000 pounds on the lift I would get the 656 checked out. A new pump for the lift is around 400 bucks.

I suspect what you say about the 656 is true. The pump seems slow and weak. Glad to here they are both rated so high, as I would like to get a baler that makes 5x6 bales and will be need to be able to move them.
Thanks for the info. YC

I put a new piggy back pump in my 666 3 years ago. It was about 350 bucks for the pump. Not hard to put in either.
