I've been using super H for 4 years now . When I got it it was stored on sale lot. The brakes would not engage. I put new discs in and then learned from a friend about the little steel ball bearings in the plates that would get rusty and not allow plates to do there job. these continue to rust from being idle for periods of time. can they be lubricated ? I once used dry caterpillar brand lube; it worked for a while .Does one replace the steel balls?

If the balls are pitted or show wear I would replace them also the springs. I would stick with the dry lube. If you use oil or grease it will collect dust and gumm them up faster. As already stated replace the dust boots and I always put a thin coat of rtv on the drum when I bolt it on, helps keep out moisture.

replacing the steel ball bearings will help especially if they are pitted. you can also polish up the ramps they run in so the bearing can travel freely without hanging up. oem tractor has the brake parts available, they also have a disc brake repair service where you send them the entire brake unit, they machine up the brake surfaces and replace any worn parts as necessary.

How are the dust/rain boots at the front of the brake assemblies? Sounds like they may be letting foreign material get into the housing. We've just left the actuating balls/discs dry after a thorough cleaning/wire brushing. Check for rust on the fiber discs & brake shaft splines. They can hang up & cause trouble.

Try some anti-seize. You can get that at most stores. Messy but might help
