Thanks to you guys who pointed me to the blown soft plug on my hyd touch-control unit the other day. I got the gas tank off and sure enough the plug was out. I got a new one from IH dealer and it was loose. Are you supposed to hammer on the these things to make them fit tight? Since the new one was loose I pounded the old one back in. I had originally thought maybe the oil I was using (ISO 68 heavy) had caused the problem. (now please keep in mind my tractor has a loader on it with an extra hyd reservoir all piped into the original system and had worked well as long as I have had the tractor, 6 years or so) I realized that I had recently replaced the filler plug on the loader hyd reservior with a new pipe plug (I lost the old one) The old pipe plug had a hole drilled in it. When I put the new one on I had meant to drill a hole in it and had forgotten. After realizing this, I figured that the soft plug blew because I had not drilled that vent hole and had sealed the system. I drilled the hole and left the ISO 68 oil in the tractor. I put everything back together and headed out to move snow. After about 5 minutes, POP, out came the soft plug again. Do you guys think the oil is the problem? Or could there be something else in the hyd system causing this? What do you think I should do? Also, the hyd oil strainer (filter) has a couple dime sized holes in the screen. Do you think it is OK to reuse or do I need to replace it? As always, I appreciate and welcome all coments and advice from all who have more knowledge and experience than I. Steve
