after burning up light switches on the 06,56 and 66 series tractors. i am wondering how a person can split the power to go to a relay system or something, anybody ever done this? and if so what did you use and where did you purchase it?

Wilson: These switches are very little different from the switches on the late model letter series tractors. If you can reduce the load on that switch to no more than 3 lights, they will last for years. I did this with my 560, 656 and 1066 each when I bought them, I can't tell you how it was done as I hired a guy in the business to do it. I know all he left on the factory switch were two head lights. If I remember correctly he had the rest on three circuits. I'm thinking it was divided front working lights, rear working lights and flashers. I only ever remember buying one of those switches, and that happened on one of my offsets after I added two working lights, over and above factory lighting.

I liked the 4 circuits, as tractors age your bound to get chafed wires, just close to impossible to keep on top of all of them. Unlike my old Farmall 300 days with 3 lights, if a fuse blew you were left sitting in the middle on a field with no lights. With 4 circuits if a fuse or circuit breaker pops you just keep on tractoring.

Yep , do it all the time when more then five lits are used . Now this will add about three years to the switch . I split the system from road lites to field lites. Use a 20 amp circuit breaker with power coming off the hot post on the starter to a CV relay triggered from the work lite post off the org. lite switch to the field work lites . The problem comes from to much draw thru the power feed to the main power terminal on the lite switch and also id the org. wire end has been replaced with one of them cheep ends . If you must replace the main power feed end then get and org. Delco #56 terminal .

Hi Vet, Do halogen lights draw more than standard, I assume they do because you never get something for nothing. Thought you might know how many of them you can put on a switch. Thanks, Chuck

From what i have seen they draw around 5 amps a few more then a 4411 . If ya go the route that i use then the light switch will only be pullen around 18 amps with the three lites off the main switch and 4 off the CV and breaker . The one thing i am going to have to change on our stuff is i am going to have to add one more CV relay for the running lights on the silage wagons as we have them all with road lites and flasher . We added them to cover our Arres but with all the nut cases on the road today that can not wait three min. for use to get from the field to the farm lane .
