OK so I thought that narrow tread referred to the 2 front tires being close together but now I see an article that refers to the rear tread width and they call it a narrow tread. So can someone explain the 3 treads that I see listed, narrow, regular and fairway?

Greetings! The designation of narrow and regular deal with the width of the rear end. As for the fairway, that mean that there were extra wide rear steel, about 24" wide, and the front two wheels although mounted in the normal tricycle fashion did not have and angle--the front axle was parallel to the ground to prevent wreaking the golf course grass. The Farmall Regular with the standard tricycle front had the axles slightly angled to improve steering and when the F-20 cam out with the worm gear steering this angle was increased greatly. I hope this helps!

The font wheels on the Regular were verticle I believe, and on the F-20 were slanted in at the bottom to make them easier to steer. With the letter series (H, M,etc.) they were tilted even more.

Although terminology seems to differ a bit depending on what part of the country or planet the issue is being referenced, there are some common terms that seem to prevail.

Your right, wide tread or narrow tread usually deals with the rear wheels, whereas NF or WF would mean narrow front or wide front. Fairway usually refers to configurations designed for operation on golf courses and they are wide, small diameter tires or steel wheels and usually wide front or standard.

I'm sure there are folks who can think of a lot more variations and the manner in which they are referenced than have been in this brief post.

Are there differences in the angle of the rims on the narrow front? I see pictures and some look almost straight up and down and some are very angled.

Yes there are different angled wheels. The increased angularity attatchment for the front wheels was available on the F20 with steel or rubber tires. A Fairway is a narrow tread model with the super wide Fairway wheels front and rear.
