HELLO, I BOUGHT A SUPER-A THAT THEY SAID RAN GOOD BUT COULD NOT GET IT TO START. TOOK THE VALUE COVER OFF AND FOUND ONE STUCK VALUE WITH A BENT PUSHROD. GOT THE VALUE UNSTUCK AND WAS GOING TO REPLACE THE PUSHROD BUT WHEN I TURNED THE MOTOR OVER I NOTICED THAT THE PUSHROD WAS NOT GOING UP AND DOWN COULD IT HAVE BENT THE LIFTER OR SOMETING ELSE? THANKS KEITH

Keith, You can't really bend the lifter, but the push rod may be bent and wedged in the hole. However, the lifter may have been damaged on top when the push rod was bent causing it to not move up and down freely. Have you pulled out the bent push rod? I would pull it out and put one of the non bent ones in first to see if that moves up and down. If the lifter is damaged you will have to pull the cam to get the bad lifter out. Roger

Maybe the lifter is stuck due to corrosion or else mechanical damage caused by bending the previous pushrod. I'd be inclined to try lots of oil and tapping on it (gently) from on top and see what happens. Hope this helps, tractorsam
