Thanks to everyone who has provided me info on this so far. I ended up buying the 574d I was looking at. There are a few minor issues that are aparent, now I have to find any deeper ones that are not obvious. The dealer I bought it from changed the Hydro filter and the oil but it needs an oil filter, fuel filters and I am thinking about changing the hydro fluid just for good measures.

I have a manual on order but I don't want to wait for it to start on the tractor.

So,,,

Can anyone tell me what fluid it takes, I am thinking trans hydro but I don't want to put the wrong thing in.

Would you recomend anything else? Coolant, anything I am not thinking of?

Also it has one brake that is better than the other. Dealer says it needs blead. I can wait for the fsm to arrive if that is complicated.

Thanks in advance.

Good luck with your 574. I really like mine

Thanks for the replies much apriciated!

For the 574 with a loader, one dirt bucket, and a new seat and the option on a roll bar I paid 5550. I thought it was a bit high but didn't try to argue it lower. I have been looking for a comparable tractor for months and I simply got tired of haggling only to see the tractor sold out from under me durring negotiations. I would have liked to paid 4500.
This tractor is to be used for my side business buying scrap metal. Primairly cleaning up farms. We rented a skid steer for years but after shelling out over 4000 last year in rentals we decided we needed to do something diffrent.
I need to build a lightweight grapple for the bucket and plan to order a pallet fork attachment Monday. My worst enemy is down time. It looks like a decent tractor, we will see.

Hy-Tran or equivelant for the rear end/tranny/hydraulic system. Once you mess with the fuel filters they will need bled out in order for tractor to run. As for the brakes bleeding will help, but it is a temporary fix at best. These are prone to brake system leaks. Also hard to fix sometimes. Axles must be removed from tractor to replace some seal/O-rings.There is a bleeder on each side of the rear end housing. Place a clear hose over the bleeder on each side, and place the other end in the hytran fill hole above the top link. Start tractor and let it run. You may want to hold the pedals down while doing this. When pure oil runs through the hoses with no air bubbles in it your brakes are bled. Rest assured you will be doing this from time to time until leaks are fixed, and they will get worse about leaking off over time. They are great tractors, but brakes are there omly weak point that I know of. They work great when in good order.

Hi Jeef, 574 Capacities:
Coolant 14 3/4 Qts.
Crankcase 9 Qts. summer 15-40W, winter 5-30W Shell Rotela-T or equivalent Diesel crankcase oil.
Trans/Diff 9 gals of CIH Hytran hydraulic fluid. Can actually over fill by 2 or 3 gals especially if there is a loader. If there is a loader or other external hydraulic equipment don't forget to drain them or you just contaminated your clean new hydraulic oil with old dirty oil.

Wait for your Ops/Maint manual and read the instructions for performing the required maintenance. Then if you have questions repost on this forum and someone will help.

Good luck with the 574.
JimB
