Jim: one problem with snowblowers on Farmall tractors is, they are to high speed in transmission, even in low on TA they are still too fast. They were not designed as a snow blower tractor. A Farmall 300 will move more snow with an 8' blade then it will with a blower.

He could fix the TA, install gears (mainshaft and bevel along with first gear) from a 460 or 504, fit smaller tires and wheels, and it would still be too fast and underpowered. He needs a hydro.

Now, if he had a 400, he could do all of the above using 560 components and 660 planetaries and he might have something. I am not going to do the math, but I bet top speed in fifth direct will be no faster than 8 mph. Creeper gear at rated rpm might be 1/2 mph.

I have done the above, less planetaries, on a SMTA and have a top speed of 11 mph.

A 7ft double auger,2 stage will over load a 656, you have to slip the clutch. I sold my blower as a 656 was my biggest tractor. If you are thinking 300, You had better start blowing when it starts snowing. My 2 cents worth.

You want the PTO rpm, it is 540. In order to use a snowblower, the TA has to work. Ground speed in 1st is too fast without the TA.

The engine RPM is 1750 and the HP is 35 on the drawbar and around 39 on the PTO.
