Been a while since I checked into the forum. How is everyone doing? I see not much has changed. Ive been sidetracted with a carport/garage addition, (three bays) so I have a place to work on the projects out of the sun and snow. (But not the wind) The 460 Utility is still running with a lawn mower gas tank. I have the tank restored, Just have to resandblast the area under the tank and paint it again. I didn;t get it covered and it re-rusted (is that a word?) I do have a question for the wise ones. The hydralics are really slow now on the 460 due to the cold Is that a bad pump? or what? Hope everyone has a good holiday and keep us in mind if you are comming to the 2008 redpower My wife has a sorta bed and breakfast here on the farm and we are not that far from the show. I think we can sleep 12 if you are friendly. The price is dontations and you will eat good.

Re: what about water in reply to Gary in Mozarks, 12-09-2007 09:29:26
Hugh, Yep I need to do the boiling thing again, and a new filter. The tractor has sat outside all summer and its got water in it again. I will do that this winter as soon as I get the roof on the building. Doing it in the garage will heat the garage too. So that propane will be multitasking LOL My latest brainstorm is a homebuilt airplane for a winter project. Gary

Hugh, I see you are still reading the forum, even if you arn't replying to emails. I wondered if you still had electrictiy up there in cannuckland. We got nailed with a ice storm just as I was about to put the steel on the building so its still uncovered. I put a picture in the gallery under parts and pieces but I havn;t yet figured out how to add it here. See if this works third party image[/url]

Gary: Just reading Jimer's thread above. Are you sure the heat process removed all the water. those filters ice up very fast if there is moisture in the oil.

moisture in the filter. i'd try changing the filter and see if that helps. Change the oil too if it looks milky.

Gary: There you go, I knew when I kicked you 3 weeks ago, you'd find your way back to the YT flock. I'm assuming the car port is done, you've hung up the carpenter tools, and your back to tractoring.

I know you have hytran in the 460, probably not cold enough yet to blame the weather. 460 and 560 were quite prone to having pump failure after water and dirt. I know you had quite a bit of both after you bought the 460. Problem here that filter can starve the pump if pluged or water saturated bad enough, therein lies the cause for your damage.

Slow hyds is normal in this cold weather. What oil do you use in it. Thin oil this time of year helps but even then for them to work well you need to let it warm up a good bit. One of those cases where you start it and let it run 15 minutes before doing any thing with it. By the way are you one of the lucky one thats getting rain or are you getting the freezing rain like we are getting here at the lake of the ozarks
