I have put them together many times. It is very simple to do but very hard for me to explain. How far away are you? I am in central Mn.

A. He didn't say what kind of engine it was on.
B. I thought some old IH engines came with Fairbanks Morse magnetos.
C. If it is what came on the equipment, it is what the average guy needs to repair. Not all posts on this board are about original restorations.

Please don't throw rocks at me for mentioning this but if you've just reassembled this part have you put the pawls and the spring in the right way round. I've now got my head well down MTF

It's "MORSE", NOT "Morris".

Try looking on the 'net using the correct spelling, and maybe you'll have better luck.

Here's some outfits that work with Fairbanks mags. Surely one of them can help with service information:

Fairbanks Morse Magneto and Ignition Products
American Electric Ignition
Oklahoma, OK
1-800-654-3932 Extension 2

Bill Lopoulos Magneto Parts
304 Pondview Place
Tyngsboro, MA 01879
www.MagnetoParts.com

Standard Magento
4119 W. Grand Avenue
Chicago, IL 60651
Phone 773-235-2010

Also, John Deere published a GREAT magneto manual, which is still available by calling 1-800-522-7448. (Fairbanks mags AREN'T covered in the IH GSS-5035 Blue Ribbon Service Manual.)

Tom,

I'm not just "over the hill"... Most days, I feel I'm WELL on the FAST downward slide, nearing the bottom!
