Trying to find out what year International I-12 is under this roadgrader. Serial # plate for the tractor says model I 12, serial# IS 1507, and serial # for the Model 20 Adams grader is 116. My resource books do not break down the I-12 production by year. I think it is about a 1936 model, but I am not sure. I thought it might be easier to determine age by the tractor than by trying to find production info on Adams equipment, but if anyone knows much about these graders I would like to hear from you.

IHC Tractor Data Book puts I-12 #1507 in 1935.

Thanks evrybody for the serial#/year info. I thought it was a pretty cool machine when I saw it, too. I guess I now have a road grader collection, since I have a Cat 12 also. Is that when hobby becomes addiction?

Can't help on the grader, the I12 is late 1936. 1936 serials were 975-1524. Source: International Harvester Tractor Data Book by Guy Fay.

Sorry Cornfarmer - no help on year ID.

However, I would like to know how the grader was started. It looks like a tight fit to hand crank..

thanks kevin

Starting it by hand would be inconvienent to say the least, but it does have electric start so the crank is just for backup. There is actually a little more room to crank it than it looks like, but it is still very close quarters. I would like to know if electric start was an option on the I-12, or if Adams made the provision for the starter. I just bought this machine, and I don't know much about it.
