What is the value of a plow, cycle bar mower, disk, planter. All IH fast hitch, used on a 240 utility?

I have been collecting fast hitch implements for several years now. Have 1 pt plows and 1 pt rototiller. then 2 pt plows. Have three 2 bottom plows including one rollover, two 3 bottom, and a 4 bottom. Have two sickle mowers, a 2 pt subsoiler, 2pt disc, 2pt blades (one small prong, two big prong )2pt carrier, and a two way plow. I use these on 100, 200, 230, 300, 350 450, and 560 tractors, and think they are the handiest implements to hook up and use. They are getting hard to find in good shape and not modified to 3 pt. I have three 2pt to 3pt conversions to use with some other implements but prefer the 2pt. When we used the 4 bottoms back in the 60's though it was hard to keep the draft control set right in hard ground and you needed lots of weight on the front ends when you pulled it out of the ground. I just think it was an idea a bit before its time . I just got a 240 utility with loader on it but need a hood and white louvered engine skirts if anyone has these lying around for sale. Thanks Migraine

Fast hitch is simpler. I have an IH 8 foot blade that I bought for an 856 with FH. I also have an Allis D19 with an aftermarket 3 point with lift arms that detach when not in use. (There's a drawbar between the sockets the lift arms plug into).

By coincidence or by design, the IH two point blade plugs perfectly into the 3 point on the D19 with the lift arms removed.

A heck of a coincidence, or some aftermarket engineer had his act together.

Well, I don't know what the stuff is worth but I gave $250 for a plow, $190 for a blade like glennster just got and I wanted a tandem disc but the seller would'nt take less than four hundred and it was in tuff shape. Jim

Hard to say as location plays a big part in the value. I have seen all that stuff sell around here, and not hardly even get a bid. I have also seen it bring good money as the demand by collectors and small acreage folks are driving prices up some. The planter and disc will bring the most, but plow is selling fairly well now too.

i gotta tell ya george, i been fooling around with this 240 i just picked up, got the back blade and bush hog. that fast hitch is the berries!!!! it sure beats the heck out of the 3 point hookup, on , off, back up, pull foreward, kick it, swear at it, drop the lynch pins..... that fast hitch, back in, and go!!! pull the rope from the operator station, drop it and go again.....i gotta get some more implements for this little bugger.

Glenn, the fast hitch was a great thing. There is a hook to release those latches with. Most of them have been lost or thrown away now, but they worked very well as long as the latch springs hold the latches up. I use FH or trailing implements a lot more than the 3 point. I only use the 3 point for the hay spike and plow for my 666 and 84 tractors. I mow all my hay with FH mowers, have blades, seed sower, bale fork.plows, disk and planter for them as well. IH said back up click and go.

Amen: we pulled everything with fast hitch when I was a kid. Plows, cultivators, hog-house lift skid, blade, etc. That you need a 3-point for a heavy plow is just plain bunk. Uncle Mike pulled 5 14s on a 706 gasser with a fast hitch. Them 5 14s really made the 706 "whine" at about 2200 RPM in L3 and she really screamed when you pulled the torque back in red clay.

I agree. I only have 2, 3 point plows to fit my 3 point tractors, but have FH plows the same size for the 450. My 4 row FH 185 planter is the heviest piece I have, but it isn't a problem for the FH either. I think if IH had let everyone use the FH it may well still be in production nowdays. I also like the fact that on older tractors you can use the hitch to lift the tractor for tire work or tread adjustment. No jacks needed with those. I even converted some of my 3 point implements to FH.

I agree with you georgeky. The fast hitch is the finest hitch ever built. when a FH is working its a wonderful thing to behold. I can jack up both rear wheels with my FH and leave it over night and the wheels are still up in the morning. I just got a FH belly plow this year. can"t wait for it to snow! I was using a rear grading blade. It was ok but I was plowing snow and grading at the same time. Now perhaps I can just move the snow and leave the gravel on the driveway. Rusty
