dave saw your 240 pics, great looking tractor!! couple ???'s for ya. on the side hood panels, mine are missing, are they flat or ribbed like at the rear cowl? does it have a bar grille insert like the 560? does the 240 have a high low range trans? (my pto lever is marked 2H N 2L. i'm thinking its off something else. i plan on spending some time with it tomorrow going over it to see what i can learn. its similiar to a 2444 i mowed with when i worked for a highway dept many years ago.

Glen, best I remember those panels are ribbed. Never seen one with anything other than a 4 speed. It is quite different than the 2444. The 240 is closer kin to the SC/200/230 and so on. Uses the same C-123 engine as SC. Rear end is similar as well. Does have bar grill like 560's. I bought one in pieces and put it back together a few years back. If I remember correctly it uses the same gears as a 140.

hmmm, looks like for now i'll just fab up a couple flat panels to close off the sides of the hood, maybe weld up a tube grille for the front. i gotta work on the lift all control too, the lever is missing on the right side, looks like the cross shaft rusted and the control lever got broke off. somebody took the rod from the valve on the left side, cut it short and ran it thru the dash, kinda like a little hockey stick coming out of the dash.well, this will give me something to monkey with until the super m motor comes back from the machine shop. momma's kinda giving me the stink-eye, she counts 10 old tractors in the barn now.

Seems like every 240 I have ever seen was missing at least one of those side panels. The one I had was missing both. You got a better deal than me. I gave 500 for mine with a C-20 plow and 3 point kit. It was siezed, but did come with complete overhaul kit and a new clutch,pp. It made a good little tractor, but I am an old trike guy. Like setting up above the tranny and things. My wife develops a frown every now and then too, when she checks the inventory. Messing with old junk keeps me out of meaness.
