I remember someone having strong thoughts and reasons as to why certain oil filters should be used over others. Could you please refresh my mind. thanks. Something about paper coming off and getting into engine? Better quality ect...

When you go to your CNH dealership you pay for an 100% common Fleetguard only with paper casing with IH logo.Comes out of same factory.A genuine Fleetguard is around 10 bucks. The same with the IH logo on the paper is 20 or something.
Here are the numbers:
Farmall M Lf 584 (longer oildome)
Farmall H Lf 618 (small oildome)
Farmall MD Lf 585 (thick oildome type)
Quality is great!!
Never had any problems.Save some Dollars on a purchase and buy some gas.
Greetings and much pleasure with your Farmall.

Take a look at Baldwin filters web site. Most of their filters are made in the US and very high qaulity. Web site very imformative as to crossover and interchange.Thats all we use here, cars, tractors, gensets, and lawnmowers. Wix also good filter line, good stuff. I would not use a Fram filter on my worst enemies John Deere. They are living off a reputation no longer deseved. Just like Madonna, no talent, just good marketing.

Those Baldwin filters are made in Kearny, Nebraska. The Baldwins come with a new o-ring gasket. I keep a supply of them on hand at all times.

I am a fan of Wix and Fleetguard filters, I believe the CaseIH/CNH filters are made by Fleetguard... The NAPA gold filters are good as well.

I am NOT a fan of anything that says Fram on it.

Fram 136A. Also works for F-20 and F-30.

I have bought the filters for C's and my brother's SM from Case/IH. They might be a $1.00 more but I am very satisfied with the quality and I know that they will fit.

I agree with Randy....I go to the IH dealer and get the right filters. Never had a problem yet, and I KNOW the filter is 'recommended' by IH. ;)
