I have an A Farmall the engine was completly overhauled 2 years ago and only has about 30 or so hours on it since then it mostly sit but has always started and run very good. Today I started it and can only get alittle more than an idle -- Ive cleaned the carb adjusted the valves and changed plugs but still no move than an idle --- the govner linkage moves freely -- if I move the govner arm while it run nothing changes. WHAT NEXT !!!!???

Sounds like the gov spring has broke you will have to remove the housing to replace it. Be sure you place the hooks on the ends of the spring just like the broken on is or the spring can bind and the gov wont work good

Thanks for the response but I found out the problem the air filter canister was FULL of water and it froze solid (northern Michigan) I got rid of the ice and it runs fine Randy

Glad you found it. Another possible cause would have been intake full of mud dauber nests or the top of the air intake jambed down tight on the intake tube.
