I lost my God child today, saw the accident on tv about 7 am while I was sipping my coffee and got the call a half hour later, I then learned it was my beautiful 16 year old neice Stephanie that the helicopter cameraman was focused on while covering the accident. She was the only fatality in the crash of 3 on board. Best I can tell, the driver wasn't paying attention, started to run off the road and over corrected, spun out and broad sided a tree, killing Stephanie instantly. Her best friend, since they were 4 was driving and she managed to survive, so far. Please if you can find it in your hearts, pray for my sister Tracey and her husband Robert and their 2 remaining boys. Also pray for the driver Laura that she will survive and not be too damaged for what she has to live with now. These kids need to slow down, please talk to your kids that drive, ride with them, take a day off and spy on them if you have to, it might be the best day you ever spent.

Thank You,

scott#2

May her spirit live on in the people she associated with. The loss is dramatic and harsh. I am convinced it is not but our responsibility to (as you say) "teach our Children".
I have spent hours in vehicles sliding sideways and correcting. I have done this since my dad let me make a go-cart at 12. and my first car (46 Chevy Deluxe) at 13. I have spent hours teaching my wife, son, and many others how to start, control, and end skids. It is never dealt with in Driver Training, and it is criminal to leave it out when it is so very important to recovery and avoidance tactics. May peace, passing understanding calm your family/friends. JimN

Scott, my Deepest sorrow and Prayers goes out to your Sister, family and friends.

I can honestly say without a doubt I really know how your sister and you feel, as I lost 2 boys when they were in thier early twenties. This is a time when families and friends need to really support each other.

The one piece of advice I give all the young folks starting a new family or have young ones is "Enjoy your children while they are young, do things as a family. As you might out live them"!!

God go with you and yours..

We had similar accident 50 years ago with 4 teens involved in a game called "chicken" by driving toward one another at a high rate of speed. None
of the drivers swerved and hit the oncoming car headon. Two teenage girls and 2 young men all perished. Hal

2 months or so ago one of my nieces totaled her Jeep. She hit the brakes to slow for a curve, slid, went off the road, through a fence, and rolled it. She only had bumps and bruises but my sister was worried when she first heard. It was the first rain following our drought, and she had gotten her license during the summer. She had never driven on wet roads.

I can't imagine what it is like for the driver, I hope her family and friends give her the support she needs.
