Well I found an F-20 today but the guy wants $550 for it. It doesn't run, has spark problems. Complete and engine will turn over. Rear tires unsure of at this time and fronts are bad. I'm thinking more like $300 or so what do you guys think. Or is the F-20 worht more then the other Fs

I think $400 would be a okay price.

Hey Rich, If you dont want it, let me know, I might be interested since you are in the area.

PS Are you ready for winter? ie. Armor plate on roof?

The guy told me it may be sold already. He stopped and looked at a tractor I have for sale yesterday and I was going to trade 2 of his for one of mine but as I said he thinks he sold the one.

If it is on good round spokes and the tractor is fairly straight it probably is not too bad. If is is on cut-offs or if the rims are crap I'd say about $300 too. Shutters, pto extension, and original throttle and mag linkages help too. The best way to pay too much for an otherwise "good" one is if the main bearings are crap, look in the side covers and see if there is ANY sign of rust on the mains. If they get bad it will sound like about twenty bowling balls rolling down a sidewalk, the mains are expensive and a lot of horsing around to change. They are awful tough to wear out but rust will make them noisy quick. Good 20's usually bring a little more than a 12 or 14, and about 1/3 or 1/2 of a 30. Narrow Treads are a much nicer tractor too, they will have an N at the end of the serial number, just in case.

I think the F20 was fairly common... the rarest of the F's would probably be the F30 and F14.

Does it have compression good enough to run?

Poor tires really takes a lot away from the price of a tractor these days as tires seem to be one of the most expensive parts of a restoration...

I would probably offer $400 and see what they say.

You might want to check the classifieds on this site to see what others are selling a running F-20 for. I think $300 would be closer to my offer.
