I want to remove my belt pulley from my H. Its missing the pulley, the seal leaks and it grinds terrible when you run it. How big of a job is it to fabricate a cover for the hole? Is there any factory covers out there?

There's one on Ebay right now but it would be easy to make one out of 3/16 or 1/4 plate steel.

I've seen M's that did not come with the belt pulley and had a cover. I'm sure some H's were like that too. Unbolt the perimeter bolts from the belt pulley and it'll pull right out. Have some help though asthey are quite heavy! Then you can make a template out of cardboard of the opening to use as a pattern to make a steel cover. I have an M with a factory cover and it's about 1/8" or so thick.

I have been restoring a '47 H. I have a plate where the pulley normally is. I would consider swapping my cover plate for your pulley. My cover plate does look sort of home made. Shipping costs might be a problem. I am located in Santa Rosa, CA
Best Regards,
Bill
