While I've got the Super M in the shop I'm going to re-seal the rear end, new pto, axle and brake seals. I'll be looking at bearings and bushings too. Are these just dealer items or do some of the aftermarket people have them? Maybe Purvis would have the stuff?
When I did that on the M I went to the dealer.

I'll probably check at the local bearing place then (Purvis). I got a belt there for a sickle mower; only ones that could get it. I won't buy chinese bearings. I always check the box and see where they come from or ask on the phone. thanks

Depends on what quality bearing and seals you want. You can buy good bearings, but not cheap, or you can find low quality bearings at a cheap price. Normally if a bearing is over 20% cheaper than the OEM bearing, more than likely they are cheap Chinese bearings. I hear this from customers all the time, they brag bout the cheap bearings they got at the local bearing house, then they whine when they go out a couple years later.

That is not necessarily true in all accounts. I always buy Timken and you can't go wrong there. Yea some cheap bearings are Chinese. But even Timken are always cheaper at the bearing house vs. IH. Where do you think IH gets them? I don't need my parts repackaged to make me feel good or my tractor run any better.

I'm assuming you're in Texas. I got several bearings and seals from A&W Bearing in Garland, Tx. Took in the old ones and they matched them. About 1/3 the price. What really surprised me is I have a Honda riding mower. The had bearings for it also. Again, about 1/3 of oem.

When I did my H I got the bearings at an industrial bearing house. They had bearings and seals cheap and I mean cheap compared to the dealer. I just had to give them the IH bearing numbers I got from a IH parts book and they cross refferenced them. The only bearing we had trouble finding was for the trans input shaft pilot bearing and I had to take the old bearing in to match it. they didn"t have that one in stock, but had it next day! I did get my gaskets for the PTO , trans cover, axle housings and all the others from case IH because I wanted a nice clean look to the finnished job, but they are pricey for gaskets and next time I might just cut them myself. Good luck on the job!
