I live in Waukesha County Wisconsin, once called "
The County of Cows" because it had more bovine residents than human. I took my grandkids to the annual Christmas parade in the city of Waukesha where I live two weeks ago and alas, not a single old tractor in the parade. There was a modern JD pulling a float but no old red iron. I guess I shouldn't be suprised, there are more cash advance stores in town than there are farms left in the county. Well, this just gives me even more incentive to get the Super H finished. There will be at least one red tractor in the parade come '09. That's my drop dead finish date since the RPRU is 60 mlies away in Madison that summer. Nothing lasts forever.

Just thought your quote "once called 'The County of Cows'" was interesting.....here in my county, Cherry County, Nebraska, at last count a couple years ago, there was give or take almost 50 some cows for every human resident.....

You'd have to go back about 50 years to see that here.

My daughter lives across the street from the Golden Guernsey Dairy Co-Op here and they have a giant fiberglass cow out front. It's a great landmark for giving directions on how to get to the house!

The young man that won a contest from Turkey Hill
could have had that cow displayed on his lawm, But I don't think they had enough room for it. I think he's getting ice cream for a year. I think
he lives in town. Hal
PS: Our daughter had never seen a cow milked until we went the PA Farm Show in Harrisburg. They milking and pumping the milk into their cooler. She thought was something. There's a man in WI that posts on here Butch in WI is milking 1200 cows 3 times a day. There's a farm in PA that is milking about the same and are using the manure to generate electricity. My late dad would have like to have seen these operations.

I know what you mean. I live in Henderson County NC were the crop was apples. Orchards all over the county sides. Now the apple orchards have been replaced with High dollar housing locals can't afford, or Trailer Parks to house all the Mexicans that have followed the money here ( est 1/3 of the counties population is Mexican 1/3 of them illegal. All types of crimes are up, cost of living up and no job for the young people here anymore. We do have an Old Engine and Tractor Club though.
