I still have no oil pressure in my 706,I have tried priming the oil galleys, different oil pressure gauges, Today I pulled the oil pan and i primed the oil pump again,in the bucket of oil it pumped the oil good, and when I reinstalled it I made sure that the gear on the oil pump meshed with the gear on the camshat well, and it did,put the oil pan back on,cranked over the motor and there was nothing,Is there anything else I can try with out pulling the motor? If there is nothing else I can do I'm going to part the tractor out, because it seems like it is just one problem after another,Any help or ideas would greatly be appreciated!

Had the same problem with a 460D, no oil pressure after rebuild. Thot I was a good tractor mechanic, but no oil pressure left me guessing. I pulled the pan and put a garden pump up sprayer hose in the oil channel of the block. Filled the sprayer with trans fluid and pumped up the sprayer. Found out that the oil was pouring into the pan from the back cam bushing. I had had the block boiled and new cam bushing put in at a repair shop. After reading the manual, the bushing were to be driven from the front of the block, but the guy got in a hurry and drove the last bushing from the rear. Thus, bleeding all the oil back into the pan. Took me a month and a lot of head scratching to figure out why I had no oil pressure on that engine. I learned the hard way. HTH

It has the 282 diesel the oil pump is on the left hand side. I'm running the gauge straight off of the block so there should be something on the gauge right? I had it running for about a minute and still nothing. Thanks.

What engine do you have and is your oil pump mounted on right hand side(German 310)I have updated german diesels by drilling air bleed hole in pump that is shown in service manual.Other engines gas or diesel I have seen timing inner cover mounting bolt that aligns with oil galley on left hand side fall out and starve upper engine of oil pressure. The front cover would have to be removed to see this.

This may sound stupid, but have you tried blowing air up the feed galley on the block from where the oil pump output is and listen for where the air might be going? No pressure means big internal leak, shouldnt be that hard to track down. I am not to familiar with that engine, what might need to be blocked off, etc., to keep air from escaping prematurely while on its way to the leak. It has to be something simple.

If this is a diesel and maybe if not in the oil cooler or in the filter base there is a relief valve that could be a broken spring or stuck or such. It has it's own port there so check it out. If you can't fix it let me know I have an IT book I can look it up and see how it goes. An 806 diesel should have between 38-55 psi for oil pressure so 706 should be about that too I'd think. gas would be less.

Is your oil gage any good? I would go to a auto parts store, buy an after market gage and some hose. and hook that at the engine and see what you have. Or have you already tried that? Does your tractor have a idiot light? I would unhook the oil gage line or electrical sending unit at the block and see if any oil is coming out when you crank in. I forgot t0 tell you to not get an electrical gage for a test gage. Armand

The idea of using a garden sprayer to put oil into the system while looking at the underside of the crankcase/rods/and oil return holes will tell it all. A head gasket on wrong can put oil where it will drain back into the pan w/o lubing anything. It could be as simple as a main bearing without an upper half, or a cam bearing pushed out of its hole, or a decayed plug in a gallery. but until you see it , it won't be fixed. Best of luck, Is there anyone near you to give it a second eyeball? JimN

Have you had it running or are you trying to get pressure by just using the starter? Most of those have a very small line to the gauge which takes a while to read pressure after starting.

Teddy52, I was wondering the same thing. If you know there is oil in there, it cant do any damage can it by letting it run, maybe 2 minutes?

I have a little D-2 Cat, that has a pony motor. Once the pony motor is started, and you engage the clutch, and start turning over the main engine, I go around and watch the oil pressure gague. It is a good 30-45 seconds before the needle moves. And none of this system has been apart to have air pockets or anything in it.
