The racks in the injection pumps are prone to sticking wide open on those pumps if they have'nt run in some time. Someone will be along with the procedure to free it up.

Several things can do it. Too much Sea Foam? How much in the amount of Diesel in the taank?
Stuck governor. Possible adjustment of the intake manifold for the gasoline fuel system, allowing gasoline mix into the system.
Very light oil in the aircleaner being sucked into the intake. Telll us more. JimN

Eric, My 450-D did something similar once. After starting it and switching it to diesel, it started to run fast and ping badly. I suspected the carburetor float stuck. Shut the gas valve off on the tank and it ran fine on diesel. Tapped on the carburetor, turned the gas back on and no problem with it for the last two years. I suspect that if the float sticks, gas vapor can still get into the combustion chamber and cause this problem or maybe if the butterfly in the intack manifold doesn't close tight, gas vapor can get in when running on diesel side. Anyhow, since you say this problem started when you opened the gas valve, I would check these two items.
