Just thought I would let every one see the difference in the original pistone and the replacement set after I complained about the wrist pin hole being bored crooked. Notice the difference in the casting marks. I suspect they had a bad run and tried to pawn the reject set off on me. Fat chance of that happening. Next post is a pic of the new set.

Mine had sharp edges on the built up parts... I filed them down smooth so there wouldn't be any hot spots to start the piston to melting... Keep us updated on your new set.

Are those Conformatic pistons? They look similar to the ones I put in my H:

I dont have the new ones in my hands yet. Sure do look the same though, right down to the round release mark in your insert pic. The bad set I had, had Clevite on them I am anxious to see where the new ones came from.

I didn't completely follow your post last time. Did you fit the head on to check for clearance issues? Yea that are not correct, but would they have worked? I wonder because I have given thought to buying the Red Power kits and want to know what to expect.

Thanks!!

Brian,

I havent tried a trial assembly yet, I'll just do the old clay trick to make sure domes dont hit and valves dont hit the domes, etc. I called Case and they get 250$ per hole, pist, pin, clips, rings, cylinders, no o rings. Pure insanity. I would say that Red Power kits are "ok", not great though. Check and double check everything. I found some chaff on one of the main bearings oil holes that needed to be cut off. No doubt it would have come off at some point when the engine was running and scored that main set up. CHECK AND DOUBLE CHECK ALL ENGINE COMPONETS.
