My 706 with a 282 diesel engine has a miss, not hitting on one cylinder. I installed a new injector and it is still missing. What is my next step to try and fix it. Thanks

well with out doing a compression test and this will require a diesel comp . tester that goes into where your glow plugs screw into we can second guess here . Have you pulled the valve cover and checked the valve set???? If you do not have the proper test equipment then a head set is cheaper so pull the head . While the head is off clean each hole and look real hard for cracks in the sleeves . Then send the head out for a valve job and have it magnifluxed also check the pre cups for any cracked or broken pre cups. Now if the sleeves have NO RIDGE at the top ya may want to pop the pistons out and checked for broken rings because someone my have used either to start her and distroyed the top rings.

When you replaced the injector did you bleed it
off,to get the air out of the line and to be sure you are getting fuel to it.if so do a compression check.you may have a burnt valve or rings may be worn. good luck hope you get it going

Which cylinder is the miss in?It could be carbon under a valve or a burned valve. The exh. valves on two cylinders are next to each other and can burn between each other that can cause a miss between two cylinders they are 2,3and4,5 or maybe one cylinder with bad compression.

I would do a compression check on that cylinder. If it's low, pour a bit of motor oil down the hole, roll the engine over and then check compression again. If it didn't change it's probably a valve not sealing. This is assuming you are getting fuel to and through the new injector.
