I bought a 55 or 56 IH 300 utility. it has low hyd. pressure. I cleaned the intake screen and the breather, still low. The tractor has set for 10 years maybe more, was operational when it was parked. Any clues or things to check?

I had problems with my 300u. I tried a lot of stuff, turned out to be a "seat" in the control block (the inside back unit beside the seat)that was worn. Can be a bugger to get out. Take a peek at that. In the process of trying to solve the problem, I bought a new pump. I have a good one if you are interested let me know. Jim

Most likely a worn pump. Though not the good news, they are available. Having it tested for pressure is probably worth the effort. If the pump is good there could be an issue with the pressure regulator system under the seat. A manual, and the parts diagram caseih.com are very useful. JimN

Might also want to check the pressure relief valve. Had a 400 that was weak, or at least seemed to be, with a loader. Found out that the spring in the valve had broken, so the valve effectively released under a lot less pressure than it normally would.

It could still be a bad pump, but I'd check the easy (cheap) stuff first.
